U.S. Bancorp stock outperforms market on strong trading day – MarketWatch

Shares of U.S. Bancorp USB, -0.39% advanced 2.86% to $49.65 Tuesday, on what proved to be an all-around positive trading session for the stock market, with the S&P 500 Index SPX, -0.98% rising 2.02% to 4,088.85 and the Dow Jones Industrial Average DJIA, -0.98% rising 1.34% to 32,654.59. U.S. Bancorp closed $13.92 below its 52-week high ($63.57), which the company reached on January 13th.

The stock underperformed when compared to some of its competitors Tuesday, as Bank of America Corp. BAC, -2.35% rose 3.39% to $35.99, Citigroup Inc. C, -2.31% rose 7.56% to $51.05, and Wells Fargo & Co. WFC, -1.35% rose 3.55% to $43.71. Trading volume (5.6 M) remained 2.5 million below its 50-day average volume of 8.1 M.
