Kelly succeeding Cochran as UD Trustees chair

Terri L. Kelly, a member of the University of Delaware Board of Trustees since 2009 and a UD alumna, was elected chair of the board at its semiannual meeting.

Kelly, former president and CEO of W.L. Gore & Associates, will begin her term as chair effective July 1, 2022. She succeeds John R. Cochran III, who has served as chair since 2015. Cochran, a trustee since 2007, will continue to serve on the board as a member of the executive committee.

Kelly will be the first woman to chair the UD Board of Trustees.

Comegys named Delcastle Tech principal.

New Castle County Vo-Tech announced that Dr. Justin Comegys has been appointed by the Board of Education as the new Principal of Delcastle Technical High School.

Comegys served as Assistant Principal at Delcastle since January 2021, but his tenure with the district goes back to 2014 when he was hired as a social studies teacher. After serving as a teacher, instructional specialist, and acting assistant principal in NCCVT, Dr. Comegys spent two years as an assistant principal in the Appoquinimink School District before returning to NCCVT and his current position with Delcastle.

Comegys earned both his master’s and doctorate from Wilmington University and a bachelor’s degree from the University of Delaware.

de Leon named Arden sales director

Arden Trust Co., Wilmington, a limited purpose trust company under the ownership of  Kestra Holdings, Holdings, announced the appointment of Theresa de Leon as National Director of Sales.

Previously, de Leon served as National Director of Private Wealth at Comerica Bank. De Leon also spent 13 years at PNC Financial Services Group, rising from Senior Relationship Manager to SVP and Regional Director of Wealth Management in the Eastern Corridor.

De Leon received her Bachelor of Arts in economics from Yale University and her master’s in accounting from New York University. She also earned her Juris Doctor from New York Law School.

Murdick joins Emory Hill in property management role

NAI Emory Hill Real Estate Services, New Castle, announced that Grace Mudrick joined the New Castle area company.

Grace will manage residential property, both single and multi-family for individual and portfolio owners, as well as transact using her Delaware and Pennsylvania real estate licenses.

Grace comes to Emory Hill with over 16 years of experience in real estate brokerage and property management.

Prior to joining Emory Hill, she worked with a local property management firm as an Executive Property Manager. Grace is an investor herself with a portfolio of over 16 single-family properties.

Cover & Rossiter Wilmington welcomed five new members

Mendoza

Margaret Mendoza joined the accounting firm in August as a staff accountant in the tax department. In May 2021, she graduated from Goldey-Beacom College with a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, and she is currently pursuing her MBA with a concentration in Financial Management. Before joining C&R, she was the accounts payable specialist for a site management company in Maryland.

Leo Bacchieri began as an intern at Cover & Rossiter in January 2020 while completing his Bachelor’s degree in Accounting at the University of Delaware. Following six months of interning, he returned to the University of Delaware to earn his Master’s in Accounting. In August 2021, Leo rejoined Cover & Rossiter as a staff accountant in the tax department. He also has experience as an accounting intern at Santora CPA Group.

Danielle Diaz joined Cover & Rossiter last July as a staff accountant in the tax and audit department. In May 2021, she graduated from Goldey-Beacom College with a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, and she is currently pursuing her MBA in Finance. She previously participated in an internship in the tax and audit department at Horty & Horty,

Indy Singh joined Cover & Rossiter in ovember 2021 as a staff accountant after working as an intern during his senior year in college. He earned a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from Rowan University in May 2021.

In addition, he holds a Bachelor’s in Business Administration from India. Before joining Cover & Rossiter, he was a team leader at GGB in Thorofare, NJ for a CNC Machinist department. Prior to 2017, he was running a business in India providing students consulting services in enrolling in international universities.

He has also worked in the retail sector and construction industry in the UK and New Zealand.

Karen Wright rejoined Cover & Rossiter in October 2021 in the accounting services department as a manager. Her role includes providing top-level CFO services to clients as well as working with the client accounting services team to provide such services as software training and consultation, payroll processing, monthly and quarterly review work, budget preparation, and part-time controller services.

Karen graduated from Temple University with a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting. Prior to rejoining Cover & Rossiter, Karen was Finance Director and shareholder for a Delaware engineering firm. She assisted with the renaissance of that firm, which led to a lucrative merger. Karen has also provided accounting services to multiple small businesses along the way, including her husband’s IT consulting business.

Pennington joins Pete DuPont Freedom Foundation

Lindsay Pennington has joined the Pete duPont Freedom Foundation as Program Manager. She brings 10 years of nonprofit management experience to the foundation.

Lindsay formerly was director of the Maritime Society for the Port of Wilmington, where she coordinated relations between members of the state-owned port community and new port operators GT USA.

A native Delawarean, Lindsay has taught at the University of Delaware, her alma mater.

Kavanaugh named interim chair at ChristianaCare department

Erin Kavanaugh was named interim chair of the ChristianaCare Department of Family and Community Medicine. As interim chair, Dr. Kavanaugh will be responsible for fostering and maintaining a vibrant, successful family and community medicine department, including physician performance, quality, research and scholarly activity as well as the administration of all departmental educational, clinical and academic programming.

Kavanaugh was hired as clinical faculty for the ChristianaCare Family Medicine Residency program in 2010 and soon was named assistant program director and then associate program director.

She has held leadership roles in the Department of Medicine as Unit Based Medical Director of 6S/Stepdown at Wilmington hospital from 2012 to 2017.

In April 2016, Dr. Kavanaugh was named the residency program director for family medicine and co-program director for emergency medicine/family medicine. In January 2019, Dr. Kavanaugh was appointed vice chair of the Department of Family and Community Medicine.

Kavanaugh is a clinical associate professor of family and community medicine at Sidney Kimmel Medical College at Thomas Jefferson University.

Debo joins Bayhealth family medicine

Angela Debo, DO, has joined Bayhealth family medicine physician Joseph Parise, DO, in offering primary care in central Delaware. Debo and her family were patients of Parise

“It’s fabulous to be able to teach medical students and young doctors going into primary care as we have such a shortage in Delaware,” Parise said. “Angela is a perfect example of someone who has fulfilled her dream and then came back to serve her community—I love to see home-grown physicians.”

She and her former mentor now get to work together through their roles in Bayhealth’s Graduate Medical Education (GME) program.

Debo is a graduate of the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine.
