Bank of America announces winners of 2022 Cincinnati Student Leaders – WLWT Cincinnati

Bank of America announced Tuesday four Cincinnati area students have been selected as 2022 student leaders. The winners received a new Chromebook and will participate in an eight-week paid internship with the Boys and Girls Club of Greater Cincinnati. The students selected for the 2022 class are Benjamin Lu (Sycamore High School), Melanie Mitchell (Walnut Hills High School), Nicco Hill (Roger Bacon High School), and Bryanna Hall (School of Creative and Performing Arts). “Bank of America remains committed to supporting young adults by connecting them to jobs, community engagement opportunities and leadership development,” said Mark Ryan, president, Bank of America Cincinnati. “We recognize young adults are the future of Cincinnati, which is why programs like Student Leaders are one way we can provide paid opportunities for students to gain job experience while developing a diverse pipeline of talent as they enter the local workforce.” The four students were selected based on their leadership, background and passion for bettering their communities. Benjamin Lu co-founded an Alzheimer’s youth awareness initiative in his community to educate and support those with family members struggling with this disease. Lu is passionate about mental health awareness and joined an organization to promote the new 988 suicide prevention hotline.Bryanna Hall has volunteered over 1,000 hours as a teen ambassador at Saturday Hoops. Hall hopes to one day become the chairwoman and increase opportunities for students of color.Nicco Hill is concerned about gang violence in his community and has started mentoring younger students and coaching basketball to provide a safe space for youth. Hill also volunteered with DisruptionNow, a social media platform dedicated to disrupting stereotypes about people of color.Melanie Mitchell is a vaccine spokesperson and advocate for Cincinnati Children’s COVID-19 Clinical Trial. Mitchell was featured on CNN and the New York Times advocating for her community to get the vaccine and hopes to become a pediatrician.Started in 2004, the Bank of America’s Student Leaders program recognizes 300 community-focused juniors and seniors from across the U.S. annually.
