Dallas-based Texas Women’s Foundation has elected three new board members who will serve three-year terms from 2022-2025.
“Under the thoughtful leadership of Hilda Galvan, our Executive Committee and our Board, we have an amazing group that helps us advance our mission of investing in women and girls to drive positive change. These new board members will add their experience and passion to help us even further, and we appreciate their service,” Miki Woodard, Texas Women’s Foundation president and chief executive officer, said,
The new members are:
- Connie Kleinert Babikian – The Pillow Bar, Owner and President
- Jana Etheridge – Capital One, Senior Vice President Chief of Staff & Customer Office, Financial Services
- Cris Zertuche Wong – Goldman Sachs, Managing Director
They join a board of 41 members led by foundation chair Hilda Galvan, who continues her two-year term through June 30, 2023.
The executive committee includes the following:

In addition, three TXWF staff have been promoted:
- Dena L. Jackson, Ph.D., who was Chief Operating Officer, was named Chief Strategy Officer.
- Ashley Lindsay, who was Associate Vice President of Development was promoted to Chief of Staff.
- Dawn Hooper, who was Vice President of Finance, was appointed CFO.
One of the world’s largest women’s foundations
Texas Women’s Foundation is one of the world’s largest women’s foundations, which raises funding from a broad base of donors, including individuals, foundations, and corporations. Those resources support more than $7 million in investments that advance economic security and leadership for Texas women and girls through groundbreaking research, advocacy, grants, and programs, TWF says.

North Texas Giving Day lasts more than a day—its 14th annual event will kick off September 1 and run through September 22. To get both nonprofits and North Texans ready for it, the Communities Foundation of Texas is partnering with software company Mightycause for a new fundraising platform this year. “We want to continue to grow the spirit of giving by engaging and activating more donors as each individual gift, no matter the size, helps the collective,” says CFT Senior VP Monica Christopher.

The inaugural October 8th Texas Blockchain Summit could be a watershed event for making Texas “the jurisdiction of choice” for Bitcoin and other digital currencies. Lee Bratcher, president of the Texas Blockchain Council, will host a wide array of speakers including Texas Senators John Cornyn and Ted Cruz and Wyoming Senator Cynthia Lummis.

The T.D. Jakes Foundation, Dallas Mavericks, and Goldman Sachs announced the winners of its free, two-week immersive ‘Hackathon’ for kids aged 14 to 18. Six local high school students won for developing an app for people suffering from mental illness to get the help they need. The chairman of T.D. Jakes Foundation has today’s “Last Word” on Dallas Innovates.
