Valentijn van Nieuwenhuijzen was named managing director and global head of sustainability for public investing at Goldman Sachs Asset Management.
The appointment is one of a number related to the firm’s integration of NN Investment Partners, according to an internal memo obtained by Pensions & Investments.
Whether the position is new could not immediately be learned.
Mr. van Nieuwenhuijzen reports to Ashish Shah, CIO of public investing at GSAM. He will also retain his role as CIO of NN IP through the integration process, reporting to Satish Bapat, CEO of NN IP and chief operating officer of GSAM in Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
The memo also said Hester Borrie and Chloe Kipling had been named co-heads of the EMEA institutional client business. Ms. Borrie retains her role as chief client officer of NN IP through the integration. Ms. Kipling was head of the U.K. and Ireland institutional client business. Details on any replacement were not immediately available.
Ms. Borrie and Ms. Kipling lead the institutional client strategy in EMEA and are responsible for defining, overseeing and delivering on GSAM’s institutional growth ambitions in the region. They report to Fadi Abuali, CEO of GSAM International, in their new roles.
Goldman Sachs Group completed its €1.7 billion ($1.8 billion) acquisition of NN IP in April, adding about $340 billion in assets under management to Goldman Sach’s money management business. The deal created a money manager with a total of $2.8 trillion in assets under supervision, with more than $600 billion in Europe.
“Looking ahead, we are excited for the many opportunities our teams have to learn from each other and grow together,” said the memo, which was signed by Julian Salisbury and Luke Sarsfield, global co-heads of GSAM, and also signed by Mr. Abuali.
