One of the City of London’s top investment bankers, who was suspended over allegations that he made inappropriate comments to a female colleague at Citigroup, has resigned.
Jan Skarbek stepped down from his job at Citi, where he has worked for 28 years, on Monday after the bank started an investigation into allegations that he had told a female employee he needed “love and affection” during a work event in Barcelona earlier this year.
Last month a spokesman for Citigroup said of the incident: “We have zero tolerance for inappropriate conduct. We take any matter coming to our attention very seriously and take the appropriate action.
“As a matter of policy, we do not comment on pending investigations.”
