LPL Financial says it has added a team of financial advisors from Wells Fargo to its employee advisor model.
Lynnwood, Washington-based Kelly Wealth Advisors, led by father and daughter Tom and Maureen Kelly, has launched on Linsco by LPL Financial, according to LPL.
The team, which also includes Marla Scott in a client-service support role, oversees close to $300 million.
Tom Kelly started his career in the financial services industry in 1990 in Newark, New Jersey, and his Wells Fargo relationship began in 2000, when he joined the firm in San Francisco, according to BrokerCheck. He left the company in 2003 for Piper Jaffray & Co. and then worked at D.A. Davidson & Co. before joining Wells Fargo in Lynwood in 2012, according to his record.
“I actually began my career in financial services at a local community bank,” Kelly said in the announcement. “I registered and ran the brokerage business for the bank’s investment services division for many years. Looking back, it’s refreshing to know that many of those customers from the early days remain clients today, along with their other family members.”
Maureen Kelly began her industry career in September last year, when she registered as a broker with Wells Fargo, according to BrokerCheck. She also became registered as an investment advisor with the firm in February this year, according to her record.
LPL said the team opted to join the firm because, “[a]s a broker-centric firm, LPL provides the Kellys with the chance to realize the core tenets of independence like client ownership and flexibility to run their practice their way, without having to bear the operational complexities like real estate, benefits, compliance and HR.”
LPL also nabbed a Texas-based advisor from Wells Fargo last month and hired a Wells Fargo leader as executive vice president of corporate strategy and new ventures.
