GIANTS OF AFRICA PROMOTES EVENT TO VALUE AFRICAN EXECUTIVES – STREETOPIA

Written by Amanda

Despite the abolition of slavery, negative impacts are felt to this date, that is unfortunate and perversive. Structural racism is a good example of that, as it reproduces the known and deplorable mental model that does not conceive blacks in a prominent position and that sabotages them through countless small attitudes of violence, thus affecting the possibility and rights of development to achieve social ascension.

Those who oppress feel pleasure, those who are oppressed suffer and often question whether they can, if they are capable, from the construction of a dynamic that in this case definitely does not belong to them.

But black people can and are able, which is why initiatives based on representation and empowerment are created, such as the project recently conceived by former basketball player Masai Ujiri together with ‘Giants of Africa’, an important platform whose mission is to use the basketball as a tool for social transformation, educating and enriching the lives of young Africans on and off the courts.

The project is named ‘AfriCAN’, an event that counts on the participation of great professionals from the African diaspora to exchange knowledge and also serves as a way to explore opportunities and resources across the continent.

Personalities such as the chef and CEO of the BLACKFOODIE platform, Eden Hagos, Onome Ako CEO of Action Against Hunger Canada, Kahlid Hashi CEO and founder of OGOW Heat and the Vice President of TD Bank, Naki Osutei, are among the participants.

‘AfriCAN’ 2022 is an important movement towards building a better African continent.
