PNC to cut 25 branches in February, spares Pittsburgh – WPXI Pittsburgh

Written by Amanda

PNC Financial Services Group, which in late October confirmed 20 branch consolidations in January, filed applications with the OCC to cut another 25 that span seven states on Feb. 17.

That translates to 45 during the first six weeks of 2023.

None in the latest batch are in the 10-county Pittsburgh metro. PNC (NYSE:PNC) operates more than 100 branches here where it ranks No. 1 by deposit market share.

Many of the planned cuts are in-store branches at Stop & Shop and Giant supermarkets in Maryland and New Jersey. PNC told the Business Times in July it planned to close 135 in-store branches in waves during 2023. Again, none are in southwestern Pennsylvania.
