Employees from Wells Fargo’s New Jersey and New York offices teamed up with The Bristol-Myers Squibb Children’s Hospital at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick for a corporate volunteer day Dec. 16.

Led by Lester Owens, Wells Fargo’s head of operations and chair of the RWJBarnabas Health board of trustees, the volunteers assembled 150 care packages for caregivers and also repainted a multipurpose room at BMSCH.

“The holidays can be a difficult time for families with children in the hospital, so we are immensely grateful for Wells Fargo’s support in helping to make this time as bright as possible,” RWJBarnabas Health President Mark Manigan said in a Dec. 21 announcement about the event. “As chairman, Lester brings a tremendous amount of passion and commitment to our mission to improve the health of our communities. This is just one of the many times he’s made a positive impact on the health and wellbeing of the RWJBH team and our patients and families.”

Wells Fargo said this event was a first in a series of projects Owen is organizing with RWJBarnabas on behalf of the financial services company.

“Wells Fargo is committed to helping strengthen communities across the country, and I am honored to share this moment during the holiday season with my Wells Fargo colleagues, putting ‘Bank of Doing’ into action,” Owens said. “We’re glad to provide support and care to such an incredible healthcare organization and the families it serves, especially at this time.”

Wells Fargo & Co., which has approximately $1.9 trillion in assets, offers banking, investment and mortgage products and services, as well as consumer and commercial finance.
