A 26-year-old New Jersey woman was robbed at gunpoint Tuesday night by a man who followed her home from an ATM at a nearby bank in Gloucester County, authorities said.
The woman told Washington Township police that she saw a black Dodge Charger in the TD Bank drive-thru line next to her vehicle when she stopped in Glassboro to use the ATM on her way home from work.
When she arrived home in neighboring Washington Township at about 9 p.m., she noticed the same vehicle. Moments later, a man approached her, showed a small black handgun and demanded she hand over her purse.
The robber then jumped into the passenger side of the Charger and the driver sped off, police said.
Officers saw the Charger on Route 42 and tried to stop it before calling off the pursuit because it fled “at a high rate of speed,” Washington Township police said.
The robber is described as a heavy-set man between 30 and 40 years old. He was wearing black pants and a gray zip-up hooded sweatshirt.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Washington Township police Det. Robert Durham at 856-589-0330.
