Four people went to the hospital Friday after a pickup slammed into a bank in South Yarmouth, Massachusetts, police said.The crash happened at about 11:30 a.m. at the TD Bank at 1095 Route 28. Pictures and videos from the scene show that a white Ram crashed through the brick wall of the bank building in front of the branch’s drive-thru lane and window. Police said six people were inside the bank at the time, but nobody was seriously injured. Police said it appears the truck left the roadway and became airborne after hitting a median. A bystander was hit by falling debris from a sign that was hit. Two parked cars were then hit in the parking lot of the Piccadilly Café and Deli next door before the truck barreled through the brick wall. Former firefighter Scott Mahieu was nearby and joined a Yarmouth firefighter and rushed to the truck. “I ran down, went around the corner, saw the guy ran into the bank, hit a couple of cars. Obviously, he had a seizure. The doors were locked. Tires were spinning. Of course, he was unconscious. So, fortunately, a Yarmouth fireman happened to be there. Also, I broke the back window. Got the door unlocked. Stabilized him,” said Scott Mahieu. Four people, including the truck’s driver, were taken to a hospital with what appeared to be minor injuries, police said.Witnesses said the driver had a medical emergency, causing the crash.The crash is under investigation.
