IOWA CITY, Iowa– Fran McCaffery and Lisa Bluder will take their teams into Des Moines for an exciting double-header on Saturday. The men’s side will face-off against Florida A&M while the women will play against Cleveland State. Here are some notes about each matchup and how you can watch.
Men’s Game Notes:
The Hawkeyes will play their third neutral site game of the season Saturday, traveling to Des Moines to face Florida A&M in the HyVee Hawkeye Showcase at Wells Fargo Arena. It is Iowa’s first game in Des Moines since 2018 against Northern Iowa.
Freshman post Owen Freeman is expected to start at center for the second straight game.
The Rattlers have won two straight games after starting the season 0-5. Florida A&M beat Presbyterian College, 65-60, and LeMoyne-Owen College, 108-78.
Florida A&M is 0-4 against Power 6 conference teams this season, including falling 105-54 at Creighton and 81-54 at Nebraska.
The Rattlers have three players averaging in double figures with Love Bettis leading the way with 15.3 points. Keith Lamar (14.3) and K’Jei Parker (10.1) also average in double digits with Lamar also leading the team in rebounds (6.1) and Parker in assists (26).
FAMU has 98 assists to 97 turnovers in seven games, averaging 13.9 turnovers per contest.
Saturday’s game is the first in the all-time series between the two schools. Iowa is 18-0 all-time against current teams from the Southwestern Athletic Conference.

Women’s Game Notes:
Iowa WBB has helped sellout or break an attendance record in 25 of 32 games this season. Tickets are available to catch the Hawkeyes against Purdue, Ohio State, Maryland, Nebraska, and Indiana. All of which are on the road. UI helped set attendance records at OSU, Nebraska, and Indiana a season ago.
Cleveland State is currently riding an nine-game win streak, its only loss coming to Bowling Green, who UI beat earlier this month.
Mickayla Perdue tallied her first 20-point game of the season with 25 points against Akron.
The 15 assists against the Zips, marked the third straight game that the Vikings finished with double-digit assists and sixth on the season.
Gabbie Marshall became the first Iowa women’s basketball player to register 200+ 3-pointers made and 200+ steals in a career. Iowa has two AP Top 20 wins this season. UI is off to its fifth 10-1 start under Lisa Bluder.
This is the first meeting between the two foes. Iowa is 9-1 all-time against the Horizon League. The Hawkeyes have played five teams this season for the first time. (Bowling Green, FDU, FGCU, Purdue Fort Wayne)
