Nonprofit organizations are eligible for some of the $7 million offered by the TD Charitable Foundation for providing services to support independent living for marginalized community members.

The foundation, the charitable arm of TD Bank, is now accepting applications for its 18th annual Housing for Everyone grant competition, which this year focuses on efforts of nonprofits providing rapid re-housing, permanent supportive housing or transitional housing for individuals from marginalized communities, according to a foundation statement.

“The affordable housing crisis is quickly becoming an unsheltered homeless epidemic across the U.S. The end of many pandemic-era programs, combined with the financial insecurity of low-income renters is leading to higher eviction filing rates and increased homelessness, particularly amongst marginalized communities,” Paige Carlson-Heim, director of the TD Charitable Foundation, said in the statement. “These conditions make it difficult for people to maintain a stable home without additional help, which is why funding for front-line organizations is so critically important. We know first-hand the impact nonprofits can have in addressing affordable housing and homelessness in our communities and we look forward to supporting many of them through Housing for Everyone this year.”

Grants ranging from $150,000−$250,000 will be made available to eligible organizations that have a history of providing affordable housing or provide supportive services to those on the brink of homelessness. Applicants must be able to demonstrate a strong record of interventions that lead to documented success in stabilizing formerly homeless individuals and families, according to the statement.

Since its inception in 2005, the Housing for Everyone grant program has awarded more than $49 million to nonprofit organizations and helped support over 550 affordable housing initiatives in the U.S. communities TD serves.

Last year, Ronkonkoma-based Options for Community Living received $150,000 in TD’s annual Housing for Everyone grant program, one of 37 nonprofits nationwide to be awarded a housing grant.

The deadline for Housing for Everyone grants applications is Tuesday, Feb. 13. Information on applying for the grants can be found on the TD Bank website. Winners will be announced in May.
