CHERRY HILL, NJ — TD Bank, through its TD Charitable Foundation, has awarded three grants totaling $575,000 to Pennsylvania-based non-profits. This funding is part of the bank’s annual Housing for Everyone competition, now in its 18th year, which this year distributed a total of $7 million across 37 organizations from Maine to Florida and in Michigan.
The grants aim to bolster housing solutions that cater to the needs of the most marginalized in the community. They support programs ranging from rapid re-housing and permanent supportive housing to transitional housing, all designed to promote stable, independent living situations for those facing homelessness or at risk due to financial insecurities.
The recipients of this year’s grants in Pennsylvania are:
- HIAS and Council Migration Service of Philadelphia, Inc., awarded $250,000
- NewCourtland, receiving $175,000
- HopePHL, with a grant of $150,000
These organizations are at the forefront of addressing the growing pressures on affordable housing providers, exacerbated by continued inflation and rising rental costs. The pandemic has further strained resources, ending many emergency housing programs and pushing more individuals towards homelessness.
Paige Carlson-Heim, Director of the TD Charitable Foundation, emphasized the critical role of these grants. “These organizations are making it their primary mission to help relieve some of the most vulnerable members of our community — those who are unsheltered or experiencing homelessness due to higher eviction rates as pandemic-era programs have ended or financial insecurity grows through inflation or other factors,” she said. Carlson-Heim also highlighted the collaborative effort with TD to innovate and create sustainable, inclusive housing solutions.
The Housing for Everyone grant program highlights TD Bank’s commitment to community support and social responsibility, particularly in the realm of affordable housing. By funding projects that offer a range of housing services—from short-term rental assistance to temporary accommodations leading to stability—the bank aims to address the urgent need for safe and affordable housing across the United States.
This initiative reflects a broader trend of financial institutions playing a pivotal role in tackling societal challenges, leveraging their resources to support non-profit organizations dedicated to making a tangible difference in communities. Through these grants, TD Bank and its partners are working to ensure that more individuals and families have access to the housing and support services necessary for a secure, independent life.
