10. REDUCED INEQUALITIES

Julien – Goldman Sachs

Written by Amanda

I joined Goldman Sachs in 2016 within the Corporate Treasury team in our Warsaw office as an Analyst at a time when the team was relatively new and growing. For the first five years of my time at the firm I was focused on funding for Corporate Treasury, more recently my role has evolved and now centres around fund transfer pricing and asset liability management.

When Goldman Sachs comes knocking you don’t say no. I joined Goldman Sachs after being approached by a member of the recruiting team with an ask of whether I would be interested in a role within the firm’s Corporate Treasury team. I was immediately interested, although without a background in Corporate Treasury, I did have a background of working in the financial services industry. We went through a lengthy interview process, and I haven’t looked back since.

Growing from an Analyst to a Vice President role in eight years is something I’m proud of. The progress in terms of promotions, roles and responsibilities is an area of pride but the longevity of my career and still growing here after eight years is what stands out to me. In an era where people tend to move roles more frequently, Goldman Sachs has proven to be a great place to work and stay with.

For me, the pace of work and what you are capable of achieving is unique at Goldman Sachs. Having joined at a time when the Warsaw Corporate Treasury team was relatively new, it’s been exciting to be a part of the process in building out the team with new joiners. When I think about adding value, the Corporate Treasury function is becoming ever more valuable to the firm. I feel I play a positive role in leading by example to continue to add value through our work.

The culture of Excellence at Goldman Sachs is about responsibility and empowerment. We have smart and committed people that have enabled us to cover so much ground and transmitting that culture to newer colleagues is a vital role played by everyone at the firm. My advice to people looking to join Goldman Sachs would be to do something you’re truly interested in as you will absolutely be given the opportunity to grow and develop.
