Bank of America left an entire office building in Richardson. Now it’s getting a redo

Written by Amanda

Renovations have kicked off at a more than 215,000-square-foot office building in Richardson that Bank of America left in May.

The huge vacancy in the five-story Galatyn Commons Building C near U.S. Highway 75 and Galatyn Parkway is the first space available in the 800,000-square-foot office complex in more than two years, brokerage Cushman & Wakefield said Friday. It’s a rare opportunity for new tenants in a campus usually 100% leased, the brokerage said.

Several tenants have signed long-term leases on the campus following recent renovations, the brokerage said. Tenants include Goldman Sachs and CBRE Group.

Cushman & Wakefield is marketing full floors or the entire building to either companies relocating from out of state or those already in the region.

Upgrades to the building at 2380 Performance Drive, the last of the campus’ four buildings to be renovated, will include the lobby, lounge, collaboration space and elevator landings. The improvements are set to be completed by December 2023.

Constructed between 1997 and 2000 for telecom firm Nortel Networks, the office campus east of Highway 75 is one of the largest business centers in Richardson. A unit of Singapore-based real estate firm Mapletree Investments bought the buildings in 2021.
