8. DECENT WORK AND ECONOMIC GROWTH

Rural Strategy with Hope Enterprise Corporation

Written by Amanda

In October 2023, Goldman Sachs announced a $20 million lending commitment to Hope Enterprise Corporation, a community development financial institution (CDFI) based in Jackson, Mississippi. These funds will support a broader group of smaller CDFIs making small business loans in rural communities across the South. This investment will reach small businesses that have been challenged accessing capital from traditional financial institutions and will foster job creation and catalyze economic growth across the region.

This commitment is part of our 10,000 Small Businesses initiative, which seeks to provide educational programming and financial advisory services to small businesses across the nation in partnership with local community partners. In September 2023, Goldman Sachs announced a $100 million commitment to support rural small businesses as part of the 10,000 Small Businesses Investment in Rural Communities initiative, which includes $75 million in new lending capital to CDFIs.
